Mosley, Green to be arraigned

The two men who are accused of killing a Fort Dodge man last Christmas will be arraigned in Webster County District Court later this month.

Lakendrick Antwon Mosley, 31, and Darwin Laquell Green, 27, are charged with first-degree murder for the shooting death of 46-year-old Montreail Dungy.

After a three-month investigation, arrest warrants were issued for Mosley and Green — who are half-brothers — in late March. They were eventually apprehended in Minnesota days later and had their initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court on March 29.

According to the trial information for the two defendants, Mosley and Green killed Dungy “while having malice aforethought, willfully, deliberately and with premeditation.”

An arraignment for Mosley is scheduled for April 18. Green’s arraignment is scheduled for April 24. Both men remain in the Webster County Jail, each on a $2 million cash-only bond.

In the early morning hours of Christmas Day, Dungy was found shot to death in his car in the 1000 block of 10th Avenue Southwest. Months of investigations, search warrants and witness interviews led the Fort Dodge Police Department to Mosley and Green as the alleged killers.

According to the criminal complaints against the defendants, Dungy was sitting in his vehicle in the 1000 block of 10th Avenue Southwest when he was shot multiple times in the head and chest “at near point-blank range.” Interviews with eyewitnesses revealed that the shooting happened approximately 3 a.m. on Dec. 25, but witnesses did not realize Dungy was inside his vehicle and had been struck by gunfire until approximately 24 minutes later, at which time a call was made to 911.

According to the document, video surveillance, clothing descriptions and “at least two eyewitness accounts” led investigators to believe Mosley shot Dungy and that Green aided him by driving him to and from the site of the shooting.

Video surveillance from a downtown bar as well as surveillance cameras operated by the city of Fort Dodge show Mosley and Green coming and going from the bar throughout the evening of Dec. 24. Additionally, cell phone data shows the two men were together shortly prior to and shortly after Dungy’s death, and within blocks of the location Dungy was shot. Witnesses also told law enforcement that about 15 minutes prior to the shooting, at a location about four blocks from where Dungy was found, Mosley was provided a firearm that is consistent with the spent rounds recovered from Dungy’s body and the crime scene.

First-degree murder is a Class A felony and carries a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole, if convicted.
