Turek, Hinson, Feenstra win in Webster County

Webster County primary election voters joined voters across the state to make Josh Turek and Ashley Hinson the Democratic and Republican nominees for the United States Senate.

U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra, R-Hull, carried Webster County in his quest for the Republican nomination for governor as he faced a rigorous challenge from Zach Lahn.

Webster County Republicans favored Hinson, a state representative, over Jim Carlin by a margin of 1,544 votes to 404.

On the Democratic ticket, Turek, who is also a state representative, prevailed over Zach Wahls by a 400 vote margin, 809 to 409.

Hinson and Turek will compete in the November general election to replace Republican U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst, who did not seek reelection.

In the high profile primary race for the Republican nomination for governor, Feenstra won 946 votes in Webster County. Lahn won 703 votes.

Adam Steen, a former aide to Gov. Kim Reynolds, won 255 votes. Former state Rep. Brad Sherman won 62 votes, while state Rep. Eddie Andrews rounded out the field with 43 votes.

State Auditor Rob Sand was unopposed for the Democratic nomination for governor and won 1,212 votes in Webster County.

In the race to replace Feenstra in the U.S. House of Representatives Chris McGowan was unopposed for the Republican nomination. He won 1,730 votes in Webster County.

There was a three-way race for the Democratic nomination for the House. In Webster County, Ashley Wolf Tornabane led the way with 417 votes. Dave Dawson won 385 votes and Stephanie Steiner won 327 votes.
