Women of influence — Tasha Nielsen

Editor’s note: This story previously appeared in the March 2019 issue of the Fort Dodge Today magazine.

What is important to you?

When thinking of my life and what is important to me, my top 3 are easily my family, friends and health. My family has always loved me unconditionally and supported me 100% in every chapter of my life. With having a very small family, I have added many best friends who are equally as important over the years. My friends never have left my side through the years and provided more laughs and memories than I can count. Lastly, I am very conscious about my health on a daily basis. I try to eat well and enjoy exercising so that I can live a long healthy life.

What do you like about Fort Dodge?

Fort Dodge provides multiple outdoor recreation opportunities, which makes an avid outdoorswoman, like myself, love spending plenty of time in the area. The community has developed beautiful walking and biking trails for any age to enjoy. The Des Moines River and Lizard Creek are in the heart of the Fort Dodge area which are perfect for kayaking or fishing in the summer. There are also many great places to eat and/or enjoy a cocktail.

What are you building for the future?

One thing I am very passionate about and work on daily is building a positive future for Off-Highway Vehicle recreation. I choose to lead by example by having fun riding the trails in a safe manner while making sure the trails are safe for others and maintained properly. The work I do directly impacts other people’s experiences and when something you create safely brings enjoyment to the people it was built for, it’s a very rewarding position to have.

What are you working hardest on?

I work very hard on living my best life possible by taking the time to make lasting memories with my family and friends, growing and learning every day in my career, not sweating the small stuff, and never taking anything for granted.
