FD woman accused in assault of man

A Fort Dodge woman is facing a felony burglary charge for allegedly taking part in an assault on a man she had an intermittent relationship with.

Sabreen S. Al-Hameed, 26, is charged with one count of first-degree burglary, a Class B felony.

It’s alleged that she assaulted a 54-year-old man at 222 Ave. M West. That man was described in the criminal complaint, filed with the Webster County attorney’s office, as a man she had an on-again, off-again relationship with.

The incident happened on July 8.

The complaint stated that Al-Hameed knocked on the door and when the man went to answer it, she and two other men came into the building and began to assault the victim.

The victim said one of the men was holding a club, and at one point the victim was choked with his own necklace.

After the three left, the victim left the home and began walking to U.S. Highway 169. The Fort Dodge Police Department responded to the area after receiving multiple calls about a man bleeding from the head.

In the complaint, it stated that the man suffered from lacerations to his head and may have had a broken hand and a broken orbital socket.

Al-Hameed made her initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Tuesday morning.

Magistrate Steve Kersten told Al-Hameed her rights and read the complaint to her. She appeared in court via a TV monitor with a connection to the Webster County Jail.

“That’s a lie,” she said once Kersten had finished.

Al-Hameed then said that she didn’t understand what was going on, and denied the allegations against her.

“I’m sitting here,” she said. “I did not come to my apartment with two other males.”

Kersten suggested that Al-Hameed not discuss the case unless it was with her attorney.

He appointed attorney Judd Parker, of Adel, to represent Al-Hameed.

He also issued a no-contact order between Al-Hameed and the man she’s accused of assaulting.

Additionally, Al-Hameed was ordered held on $25,000 cash-only bond.

Her preliminary hearing on that case has been set for July 27.

Al-Hameed also made an appearance on a failure to appear warrant for allegedly failing to show up for a probation revocation hearing. She’s been ordered held on $2,000 cash-only bond for that case.

That case was sent to Webster County District Associate Court.

Starting at $4.94/week.
