DMACC posts spring semester dean’s list

ANKENY — Des Moines Area Community College recently released the names of students eligible for the spring semester Dean’s List. To be eligible, a student must have completed a minimum of six credits and earned a 3.5 to 3.99 grade point average for that semester. Area students are: Callender — Jesseca Pirie, accounting specialist. Fort Dodge — Daphne Alstott, liberal arts; Elaine Eslick, liberal arts; Dakota Ganzeveld, realtime court reporting; Kinsey Myers, liberal arts; Allix Williamson, liberal arts.

Border awarded P.E.O. STAR scholarship

The P.E.O. STAR scholarship for the 2020-2021 academic year has been awarded to Morgan Border, a recent graduate of St. Edmond High School. Border is the daughter of Mark and Sheila Border and was recommended for the scholarship by P.E.O. Chapter IM of Fort Dodge. She has been accepted and will attend Iowa Central Community College where she plans to study nursing beginning this fall. The P.E.O. Students named to Central dean’s list

PELLA — Central College, Pella, has released its spring 2020 dean’s list. The honor is awarded to full-time students who achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale while taking 12 or more graded credit hours for the semester. Area students on the list are Tate O’Tool, of Fort Dodge, and Andrew Ramsey, of Eagle Grove.

Dawson wins horticulture scholarship

Caryn Dawson, of Palmer, is a 2020-2021 National Garden Club Scholarship Award winner. The $4,000 scholarship is one of 43 national awards available for junior, senior or grad students. Dawson is a senior at Iowa State University majoring in global resource systems and horticulture with minors in animal science and Spanish. In addition to her academic success, she has had international experiences in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Italy. Samuelson is Grand Lodge scholar

Lucas Samuelson from Southeast Valley High School has been selected as a scholarship recipient by the Grand Lodge of Iowa, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, from a group of 466 applicants. The award of $1,850 is in recognition of Samuelson’s academic performance, community activities, leadership and financial need. The Grand Lodge of Iowa has awarded more than $1.2 million in scholarships from an endowment fund established to recognize the accomplishments and potential of young Iowans.

Moore named to Northwest Iowa honor list

Adam Moore, of Fort Dodge, an industrial instrumentation and control major, has been named to the Northwest Iowa Community College honor list for the spring semester. Students on the honor list are full-time and have achieved an average grade point of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Northwest Iowa Community College is located in Sheldon.
