Noon Rotary scholarships announced

The Fort Dodge Noon Rotary Club has named the scholarship recipients for the 2019-2020 school year. Rotary is awarding eight scholarships of $1,000 each toward tuition at Iowa Central Community College during the student’s freshman year. Awarding of the scholarships is based on ability to succeed at the college level and financial need of the student. FDMS to present ‘The Wizard of Oz’

“The Wizard of Oz,” the Fort Dodge Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade musical, will be performed at 7 p.m. on March 12 and 13 in the Fort Dodge Middle School auditorium. Nearly 85 students are involved in the production. In this adventure, Dorothy is carried by a tornado from her Kansas farm to the magical land of Oz. On her quest to get home, she meets a scarecrow, tinman, lion, good witch and a wizard who assist her along the way. Iowa Lakes student awarded scholarship

ESTHERVILLE — Hunter Riedesel was awarded a $1,000 scholarship for Iowa Lakes Community College at the Agribusiness Career Day hosted by the Agribusiness Association of Iowa Foundation on Feb. 12. Out of more than 250 Iowa community college agriculture or agribusiness students attending ABC day, only 15 of the students received scholarships. Two area students win ag scholarships

Two community college students from the area who are studying agriculture or agribusiness have received $1,000 scholarships through a program conducted by the Agribusiness Association of Iowa. Iowa Central Community College student Leslie Murphy, of Sac City, received a scholarship sponsored by the Iowa Biotechnology Association. Hannah Bothne, of Bode, a student at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City, received a scholarship sponsored by Twin State Inc. The scholarships were presented Feb. 12 during Agribusiness Career Day in Des Moines.

FDCSD athletic physicals set for March 5

Athletic physicals for current 7-12 grade students will be held from 5:15–6:15 p.m. March 5 at the Fort Dodge Senior High gym. The cost is $15. All 7-12 grade Dodger student-athletes are encouraged to attend. A sports physical needs to be current and on file in the nurse’s office prior to the first day of practice of the athlete’s sport season. Seniors out for spring/summer sports must have a physical that stays current through the end of their season.
