Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services welcomes new staff members
Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services welcomes Matthew Berry, funeral director, and Alyssa Pieper, funeral director, to its professional staff.
Berry joined the staff of Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services as a funeral director in August 2025. He is an Iowa native who grew up in Corwith. He is a husband, father of three adult children, and grandfather.
Berry’s life of service includes time in the United States Marine Corps, followed by a career with the Iowa Army National Guard, from which he retired from active duty in 2025.
Also joining the Gunderson funeral team is Pieper, funeral director, who began her internship in August 2024. She graduated from the University of Minnesota — Morris with a bachelor of arts degree in biology in 2020. She then attended the University of Minnesota — Twin Cities, earning her bachelor of science in mortuary science in 2023.
Pieper is new to the area and looks forward to getting to know the community and the people who call it home.
