Friendship Haven names board of directors

Friendship Haven has announced four members of its board of directors.

Matt Johnson, director of happiness at Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota; Sara Hill, associate pastor at First Presbyterian Church; John Engler, an attorney at the law firm of Johnson, Mulholland, Cochrane, Cochrane, Yung & Engler, P.L.C.; and Michele Johnson, a retired cancer care coordinator at UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center, have been named to the board.

Matt Johnson is a graduate of Fort Dodge Senior High. He earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing and management with a certification in entrepreneurship from the University of Iowa. Johnson is a past president of the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance and continues to serve on that board. He also continues to be involved in other community initiatives, including the Meals on Wheels program and the annual Fort Dodge Ford Thanksgiving meal.

In addition to her associate pastor role, Hill is ordained as a minister of word and sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA). She previously served as the pastor at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. A native of Philadelphia, she has lived in Fort Dodge since 2009. Along with serving on the Friendship Haven Board, her volunteerism in the community includes serving as the chaplain for the Fort Dodge Fire Department and serving on the Gateway to Discovery board.

As an attorney, Engler specializes in estate planning, probate and trust administration, business, and real estate law.

Michele Johnson graduated from Creighton University with a bachelor’s degree in social work. During her career she has worked for various organizations including Lutheran Social Services, Iowa Department of Human Services, MIDAS Council of Governments, and Plautz Design and Development. Johnson was also part of a team that developed, introduced and educated staff at Trinity Regional Medical Center on the palliative care program. She ended her career as cancer care coordinator.
