Hy-Vee is helping replenish food banks
WEST DES MOINES — Hy-Vee has launched a campaign called “Feed the Need” to help replenish local food banks across its eight-state region.
The supermarket chain was recently made aware that many food banks were extremely low on food due an influx of additional people over the past several weeks needing assistance.
Food banks historically have lower donations in February than any other time of year.
Customers can participate in Hy-Vee’s campaign by rounding up their purchases at the checkout to the next dollar or a desired dollar amount.
Hy-Vee will match customer donations up to $100,000 to help restock food banks.
“Being one of the largest grocers in the Midwest, we are ready to help,” said Randy Edeker, Hy-Vee’s chairman of the board, chief executive officer, and president. “And one of the best ways we can do that is by bringing awareness the issue nd rapidly responding alongside our customers to help people in need.”
