Smeltzer Learning Farm to host field day Aug. 19

OTHO — The Smeltzer Charitable Trust will host a field day from 5 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 19 at the Smeltzer Learning Farm, rural Otho. The field day will focus on the idea of using carbon markets and green ammonia to improve the bottom line for landowners. The program will begin at 5 p.m. with two guest speakers from Holganix and ContinuumAg discussing carbon markets. Webster County Conservation is holding Coffee and Conservation at 10 a.m. today at the Matt Cosgrove River’s Edge Discovery Center, 20 N. First St. Each month there will be an informal discussion about a variety of conservation/recreation topics in Webster County. Coffee and light snacks will be provided. FDPL holding adult and teen board game nights

Join the Fort Dodge Public Library, 424 Central Ave., for a fun time with both classic and new board and card games. There will be a wide variety available, but you’re welcome to bring your own too. With plenty of games to choose from (and tables for multiple games at once), there’s sure to be something for everyone to enjoy. Sac County Quilt-A-Fair entry deadline is Aug. 21

Quilt makers and quilt owners, it is time to get those special quilts entered for the Sac County Quilt-A-Fair. The quilt show takes place on Sept. 19-20, but registration forms for quilts to be displayed must be completed in advance. They are due on Aug. 21. Print copies of the registration forms are available in Sac County libraries. Forms can also be downloaded and printed from the barn quilt web site: www.barnquilts.com.
