Calhoun County Museum to hold free dance on Oct. 25

ROCKWELL CITY — The Calhoun County Historical Society will hold a dance/concert from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 25 at the Calhoun County Museum in Rockwell City. The Al Welsh Orchestra, one of the longest running successful dance bands in the Midwest, will perform varieties of dance music from the turn of the 20th century up through the 1960s and beyond in big band style. This year will mark the 19th annual dance at the museum. First UMC rummage sale is today

First United Methodist Church, 127 N. 10th St., is holding a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to noon today. Enter the church on the west side, steps or elevator. Large items will be half price and a bag will be $4.

Author Joseph LeValley at Clare Public Library on Monday

CLARE — The Clare Public Library invites the communities in the surrounding areas to a special book signing event with author Joseph LeValley on Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Clare Community Center. LeValley will be signing copies of his newest release, “Murder Suspended,” the seventh book in his popular Tony Harrington mystery series. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres while meeting the author and hearing about his latest work. All are welcome to attend this exciting literary evening. The Clare Public Library will be closed on Monday to allow staff to host this event.

FDPL announces October Brown Bag Briefings

The Fort Dodge Public Library, 424 Central Ave., will be holding Brown Bag Briefings beginning at noon Thursday and continuing on Thursdays through Oct. 23. The briefing Thursday will be Terry Allers with a program on Fort Dodge architecture on Oct. 16. Oct. 23 will feature Brian Bidleman of Beacon of Hope. He will speak about the homeless situation in Fort Dodge.
