First Covenant Choir presents Christmas cantata today and Sunday

The First Covenant Choir, a 40-member group of vocalists at First Covenant Church, 201 Ave. H, will present a Christmas cantata, “There’s a New Star” at 5 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the church. Come and be blessed as you journey with the singers, first to the birthplace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and as we conclude this beautiful cantata with the challenge to witness to all the message of salvation.

Movie night for third to fifth graders is Thursday, registration required

The Friends of Webster County Conservation is holding a movie night for third to fifth graders from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Matt Cosgrove River’s Edge Discovery Center, 20 N. First St. The movie “Abominable” will be shown. There will also be pizza, popcorn and activities. Registration is required online at mycountyparks.com. Spots are limited.

FDPL holiday extravaganza Saturday today

The Fort Dodge Public Library, 424 Central Ave., is holding holiday extravaganza Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today and Dec. 20 at the library. Children may write letters to Santa for the Santa mailbox, do dot coloring and get a goodie bag while supplies last. All month long there will be the guessing jar and searching for Santa.

Coffee and Conservation is today

Webster County Conservation is holding Coffee and Conservation at 10 a.m. today at the Matt Cosgrove River’s Edge Discovery Center, 20 N. First St. Each month there will be an informal discussion about a variety of conservation/recreation topics in Webster County. Coffee and light snacks will be provided. The topic is wintering birds. Learn all about Iowa’s wintering birds, setting up wintering bird stations for success and the importance of food plots.

FD Noon Lions Santa Christmas party is Tuesday

The Fort Dodge Noon Lions Club is hosting An Evening with Santa Christmas party from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Rides Banquet Center, 725 S. 31st St. There will be free pictures with Santa, activities for kids, silent auction and some refreshments. This free family event is open to the public.
