Kevin Mason will be at the Fort Dodge Public Library, 424 Central Ave., to discuss his new book “Retracing the Dragoon Trail in Iowa” at 6 p.m. on May 12. In his book, Mason traces Iowa’s transformation from prairies and wetlands to farms, towns, and transportation networks, beginning with the 1835 expedition of the First U.S. Dragoons. He connects these changes to Manifest Destiny, military expansion, and settler colonialism, while highlighting the often-overlooked perspectives of the Sauk, Meskwaki, Dakota, and other indigenous nations. CDA to meet May 14

The Catholic Daughters Court 216 meeting will begin at 6 p.m. on May 14 at the Corpus Christi Center, 405 N. Eighth St. Mass will be held at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and a speaker. CDA Sister Angela Croonquist will talk about her small business in superfoods, including Spring Creek Honey and fresh microgreens. There will also be a CDA business meeting. King Band concert is Sunday

The third and final indoor concert for the 2026 season by the Karl L. King Municipal Band of Fort Dodge will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the Fort Dodge Middle School Auditorium located at 800 N. 32nd St. in Fort Dodge. There is no admission charge, since these concerts are provided by the city of Fort Dodge for everyone’s enjoyment.
