A blessing of the animals is 2 p.m. Oct. 8 in the parking lot at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1007 First Ave. S. Bring your furry or feathered friends on their leashes or in their cages, or a picture of a pet, past or present, and a lawn chair. Have those members of your family blessed because they give so much happiness to our lives. In the event of rain, the blessing will be moved inside. There will be a freewill offering with all donations going to Almost Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa. The community is invited to this free pet blessing. The event is sponsored by St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and Grace Lutheran Church.
