Fort Dodge soph Daniel is 200 champ at IAC meet

DES MOINES — Fort Dodge sophomore Noah Daniel claimed a gold medal in the 200-meter dash at the Iowa Alliance Conference boys track invitational on Friday at Des Moines East.

Daniel had a time of 22.90 to defeat a field of 22 runners in the 11-team meet.

Classmate Dalton Eckley was a runner-up in the high jump with a mark of 5-8.

Daniel took fourth in the 100 as well (11.57).

“Noah had a great night,” Dodger head coach Kevin Astor said. “He’s really gaining confidence and starting to hit his stride.

“It was a very competitive meet with a lot of outstanding athletes. We had PRs up and down our lineup, and the weather was perfect.”

Junior Drake Warland was fourth in the high jump (5-6). Sophomore Jordan Lessmeier was seventh in the long jump (18-11.5). The 4×100-meter relay quartet of Tytrell Mosley, Kyree Rochon, Warland and Daniel also crossed in seventh in 45.74.

Fort Dodge’s state-qualifying meet is on Thursday in Norwalk.
