Fort Dodge wipes out Riverhawks

MASON CITY — The sixth-ranked Fort Dodge softball team had no trouble with Mason City here on Monday. The Dodgers (5-1 overall) pounded out 36 hits and scored 32 runs in a doubleheader sweep of the Riverhawks (0-6). Fort Dodge finished the contest with an 18-1 win in four innings, after opening with a 14-2 victory in five innings. Head coach Andi Adams’s program has now taken 34 consecutive games from Mason City dating back to 2017. Adams has a career record of 89-6 versus the Riverhawks overall. MASON CITY — The opening contest of Fort Dodge’s baseball doubleheader on Monday at Mason City had a familiar feel. On the mound, it was a rematch of last year’s Class 4A substate opener, as Fort Dodge’s Tanner Peterson opposed Riverhawk ace Lincoln Berding.
