Unhappy with stadium parking lot

To the editor: I would like to comment on the recent construction of the Dodger Stadium parking lot on the corner of 19th Street and Elmhurst Avenue. The entire project was poorly visioned, and the execution was incredibly short-sighted. I understand the work is nearly done, but there was no public comment period, and I think we can still go back and right this wrong. They destroyed a beautiful grassy field and 200-year-old trees to make way for a cement parking lot (why not consider a parking structure on the existing lot). To the editor: Just as in 2016 and 2020, Donald Trump is telling his supporters that the only way he can lose the election is if it is rigged. In 2016, Trump lost the election by more than 3 million votes, but won the presidency through the archaic Electoral College. In 2020, Trump lost the election by over 7 million votes and also lost in the Electoral College. To the editor: The decision to have an abortion or not is up to the woman and her doctor with God’s guidance. The government should have no laws concerning this issue. God gave us the 10 Commandments through Moses in Exodus 20 to live by. The Sixth Commandment states “Thou shalt not kill.” It is not up to the government to make this decision or be our judge. Supports franchise fee for cops

To the editor: One of the primary functions of city government is to protect the citizens of the community. As a result of actions by the state government, the city has been unable to fund plans to increase the number of police officers. Fort Dodge is feeling the strain as violence rises and wait times have increased for emergency responses. The force is dealing with more calls for service which leads to excessive overtime, burnout and retention issues because of staff shortages. To the editor: On Tuesday, July 23, our mother at the age of 92 fell and unfortunately broke her hip. She was transported to UnityPoint by ambulance and assessed in the Emergency Department. After X-rays confirmed what she knew and we suspected was a broken hip, the discussion began as to whether she could withstand surgery and if so, where would be the best place to have it done. We have a large and opinionated group of siblings and have heard the complaints over the years about the medical care here in Fort Dodge.
