Ice cream social coming Sunday

HARCOURT — Faith Lutheran Church, Harcourt, is holding an ice cream social and bake sale from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. Beef burgers, beans, pie and homemade ice cream will be served for a freewill donation.

Grace Lutheran to have Rally Sunday

Grace Lutheran Church, of Fort Dodge, will hold its annual Rally Sunday beginning at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the Bob Heun Shelter at John F. Kennedy Memorial Park on Webster County Road P56. During the service, the Rev. Dan Kahl will have a Blessing of the Backpacks for all students heading back to school. The service will be followed by an intergenerational nature scavenger hunt and a finger food potluck. All are welcome to attend.

Harmony Brigade to visit churches

The Fort Dodge Harmony Brigade barbershop chorus will sing at four area churches and a nursing home on Aug. 26. Beacon of Hope leader to speak at church

POMEROY — Steve Roe, director of the Beacon of Hope Shelter in Fort Dodge, will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Evangelical Covenant Church of Pomeroy. The church is located five miles north of Pomeroy and eight miles south of Pocahontas. Roe will be sharing his story as well as that of the Beacon, and a few of the men may also accompany him to tell of their stories of how God has led them from “Darkness to Light.” Refreshments will follow the presentation. Ice cream social set for Stratford

STRATFORD – The McGuire Bend UB Church will be holding its annual ice cream social from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Stratford City Park. The menu includes loose meat sandwiches, chips, homemade pies and bars, ice cream and drinks. A free will offering will be accepted.

Holy Trinity Parish to hold Summer Spirit Block Party Aug. 18

Holy Trinity Parish will hold its Summer Spirit Block Party on Aug. 18 on Sixth Avenue North/Marian Home street. Events start with Mass celebrated at 4:15 p.m. in the St. Edmond High School gymnasium followed by a freewill dinner of pork burgers, hot dogs, chips and cookie, beer and wine available for purchase, activities for all ages, a street dance and dunk tank. The dunk tank will run from 7 to 8 p.m. with the Rev. Patrick Behm, Deacon Ross Caniglia and Nancy Richman taking turns. Funds raised from the dunk tank will go to the parish food bank. The block party will conclude at 9 p.m.
