Alleged bath bandit busted in Fort Dodge

An illicit bath could send a Fort Dodge man to prison for up to five years. According to court records, 40-year-old Daniel Mark Martin is charged with one count of third-degree burglary, a Class D felony. The criminal complaint alleges that between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Martin kicked in a locked door of a vacant house in the 1300 block of Second Avenue North. Martin then allegedly ran a bath, “therefore taking something that did not belong to him,” Fort Dodge Police Officer Matt English wrote. CFR seeks donations

Community & Family Resources, a mental health and addiction treatment organization, is seeking donations for its wish list of items for its adult programs. The list includes mens and womens underwear, mens and womens socks, sports bras, bodywash, lotion, art supplies, winter hats, gloves, long distance calling cards, hard candy, throw blankets and journals. Donated items can be dropped off at Community & Family Resources, 211 Ave. M West.

One injured in Tuesday crash

CALLENDER — At least one person was injured in a crash involving a semitrailer and a passenger vehicle Tuesday afternoon in Webster County. The crash happened at U.S. Highway 169 and 290th Street at about 3 p.m. It remained under investigation Tuesday night. Firefighters from Callender and Gowrie, the Southwest Webster Emergency Medical Service, an ambulance from the Fort Dodge Fire Department and Webster County sheriff’s deputies responded.

Avian influenza proclamation extended in area counties

A state disaster proclamation issued in response to an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in three local counties has been extended. Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Friday that she has extended the disaster proclamation in Hamilton, Kossuth and Pocahontas counties through Dec. 17. Buena Vista, Clay and Taylor counties are also included in the extension. The proclamation enables state resources, especially from Iowa Homeland Security and the Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, to assist with tracking and monitoring, rapid detection of the disease, containment, ...

One injured in Wright County crash

EAGLE GROVE — The driver of a semitrailer sustained minor injuries after a collision that involved a farm tractor hauling a farm implement on Iowa Highway 17 on Thursday evening. According to Wright County Sheriff’s Deputy Tony Pieczko, the semi driver was transported to a local hospital via ambulance and was later released. The accident remains under investigation. The regional hazardous materials team from the Fort Dodge Fire Department was called to the crash because of a diesel fuel spill.
