Private Pesticide Continuing Instruction course offered

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Webster County office will be offering another opportunity to attend the Private Pesticide Applicator Continuing Instruction Course (P-CIC), led by Extension Field Agronomist Angie Rieck-Hinz. No injuries in storage building fire near Moorland

MOORLAND — A structure fire in rural Moorland Sunday was likely caused by electrical issues of a side-by-side vehicle that was being worked on, according to Moorland Firefighter Brad Hoffman. According to Hoffman, Moorland Fire Department was dispatched to 2136 Hayes Ave. on Sunday afternoon when a steel storage building caught fire. He said the property owner had been inside the building working on a side-by-side when he left for a few minutes. Blue scholarship applications available

Applications for the 2024 Robert D. Blue Scholarship are now available, according to state Treasurer Roby Smith. Applicants must be a current senior or graduate of any Iowa high school who plans to attend a college or university within the state. Awards are based on financial need, an original essay, academic achievements and recommendations. Scholarship applications are only accepted online and must be submitted by May 10.
