FDPL children’s Summer Adventures Tuesday

Join the Fort Dodge Public Library, 424 Central Ave., from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday for a fun and educational open house featuring Spock’s Sanctuary, a Des Moines-based rescue organization dedicated to reptiles and amphibians. The sanctuary will be bringing a variety of animals for you to meet up close, including animals such as snakes, geckos, large lizards, and turtles. You’ll also have the chance to explore fascinating animal artifacts like a tortoise shell, shed snake skin, or even some cockroaches. ‘Loss of a Spouse’ grief seminar is Aug. 2

A two hour seminar entitled “Loss of a Spouse” will be 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 2 at First Covenant Church, 201 Ave. H. There is no charge for the event. This is a GriefShare program. If you have experienced the loss of a spouse, this seminar may help you through the grieving process. Harcourt Appreciation Days are Aug. 1 and 2

HARCOURT — Harcourt Appreciation Days and city wide garage sales are Friday and Aug. 2 in Harcourt. There will be a street dance from 7 to 11 p.m. on Friday. On Aug. 2, events are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and include a food court, parade at 1:30 p.m., bake walk, games for kids includng FOAM party/train rides, Jordan Reuter playing guitar, Rollie’s Place Tours at 111 Linden St., from 2 to 5 p.m., and fire department bags tournment. City wide garage sales are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 2.

Palmer 125th celebration and all class reunion is Thursday through Aug. 3

PALMER — The Palmer 125th celebration and all class reunion is Thursday through Aug. 3 at the Palmer Community building, Palmer. Events begin at 5 p.m. Thursday and conclude at 3 p.m. Aug. 3. Rolling Hills Community Church VBS announced

Rolling Hills Community Church, 2891 N. 15th St., is holding a Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday at the church. The theme is “Magnified! Discovering the Bigness of God in the Smallest of Things!” A week filled with fun activities is planned for children ages preschool through sixth grade. Church bus transportation will be provided all week to and from the VBS. Registration is 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church with a bouncy house, games and cookies. Webster County Conservation summer art series is Thursday and Aug. 5 and 7

Webster County Conservation is holding a summer art series at 10 a.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. on both Aug. 5 and 7 at the Matt Cosgrove River’s Edge Discovery Center, 20 N. First St. Thursday’s class is oil pastels for children ages 8 and above. On Aug. 5, the class is fall watercolors for children of any age. Adult watercolor is Aug. 7. Deidra Miller-Clay, Fort Dodge Senior High art instructor, will lead participants through a variety of art mediums. Cost is $5 per participant. Register online at mycountyparks.com. Spots are limited.
