Dubuque Wahlert put together a dominant performance here on Wednesday to reach the Class 3A state softball championship round. The second-seeded Golden Eagles soared to a 13-3 victory over Van Meter. They will now meet top-seed and defending state champion Williamsburg in a rematch of last year’s finals on Friday at 5 p.m. Junior Natalie Ruba homered and was the winning pitcher for Wahlert (38-6), which remained undefeated this week at Rogers Park. The Jaguars will square off with defending state champion Waukee Northwest on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Mady Ott drove in four with two hits, as Emmy Ott also had two hits with two runs scored and two RBI. Defending Class 5A state champion Waukee Northwest is back in the title game following a 4-0 victory over Dallas Center-Grimes here Wednesday at Rogers Park. Sophia Schlader pitched a two-hitter, striking out six and helping her own cause with a home run. The Wolves will face Ankeny Centennial Friday night at 7:30 p.m. for the title.
