MASON CITY — The opening contest of Fort Dodge’s baseball doubleheader on Monday at Mason City had a familiar feel. On the mound, it was a rematch of last year’s Class 4A substate opener, as Fort Dodge’s Tanner Peterson opposed Riverhawk ace Lincoln Berding. Fort Dodge took three of four games from Mason City last year during the regular season, but Berding — who came on in for relief in the substate win — was looking to repeat the 2025 performance. Fort Dodge wipes out Riverhawks

MASON CITY — The sixth-ranked Fort Dodge softball team had no trouble with Mason City here on Monday. The Dodgers (5-1 overall) pounded out 36 hits and scored 32 runs in a doubleheader sweep of the Riverhawks (0-6). Fort Dodge finished the contest with an 18-1 win in four innings, after opening with a 14-2 victory in five innings. Head coach Andi Adams’s program has now taken 34 consecutive games from Mason City dating back to 2017. Adams has a career record of 89-6 versus the Riverhawks overall. CLARION — The St. Edmond baseball team ended a 26-game North Central Conference losing skid here Monday night, picking up their first-ever league doubleheader sweep in the process.
