Dodgers host Gary Winkler Invitational

The Fort Dodge swim continued their stretch of swimming at home on Saturday.
This time the Dodgers held their annual Gary Winkler Invitational in the Dodger pool.
"It's great to host the Winkler Invitational," said Fort Dodge head coach Ashley Beaumont. "It's great competition at home. We get to see all the fans from the different towns in the stands and you don't know they are from other towns, we're all Dodgers and it's a great experience."
Fort Dodge came away with one individual gold and a runner up showing.
"I think we did really well," Beaumont said. "Every girl had at least a time drop somewhere in the pool."
Karlee Pearson out-stretched Algona's Ella Welp at the wall in the 200 breaststroke. Pearson finished in 1:13.61, while Welp was right behind at 1:13.61.
"Karlee swam really well in the 100 breaststroke," Beaumont said. "She looked amazing the whole race and that was awesome to see from her."
Kylen Lubensky picked up silver in the 50 freestyle. She finished in 26.71. Brylie Behrens of Carroll was the champion, touching the wall in 26.65.
"Kylen had a really good swim," Beaumont said. "It was great to see her go out and compete like I know she can."
Fort Dodge's 200 medley relay finished fourth. The quartet of Lubensky, Pearson, Clara Brown and Teagan Loots had a time of 2:06.93.
Lubensky and Makayla Knox went third and fourth in the 500 freestyle. Lubensky touched in 5:58.89 and Knox was at 6:12.65.
"Kylen breaking six in the 500 was impressive," Beaumont said. "She previously did that as a sophomore and she raced hard.
"Makayla had a great time in the 500 to finish fourth."
The Dodger 500 freestyle relay of Lubensky, Brown, Knox and Pearson clocked a 4:13.41.
"The relays are doing well," Beaumont said. "We're still figuring out options and how things will go and look as we prepare for the rest of the season."
