COFFEYVILLE, Kan. – The Iowa Central football team secured another road win, besting Coffeyville here Saturday, 31-27.
The 13th-ranked Tritons used a pair of defensive touchdowns to improve to 3-1 on the year, dropping No. 15 Coffeyville to 1-3 overall.
Mike Lane returned an interception for a score and Chase Pearsall recovered a fumble in the end zone for another. On offense, Ethan Johnson and TyJohn Brooks both had touchdowns.
"Our detail and discipline wasn't consistent," ICCC head coach Colby Kratch said. "But when we needed a play, our guys stepped up and didn't shy away from the moment.
"This was a good win because of belief in the team and playing for the man next to you."
The Tritons have won three straight since a loss to Butler to begin the year. They have scored at least 31 points in all three wins.
Iowa Central makes it three straight weekends in Kansas, heading to Dodge City this Saturday for a noon kick before taking a week off.
