The St. Edmond girls scored a 56-28 victory in the first home game of the 2026 here Monday night.

After opening the year on the road, the Gaels quickly got back on track following a loss to 14th-ranked (Class 3A) Clear Lake last Friday night.

Abby Huss drained three 3-pointers and scored 15 points to lead the way for St. Edmond (6-3 overall). Eden Horn added 14, Chloe Palmer finished with 13 and Anna Lursen added eight.

“It’s always great to get a win, especially coming off a loss,” SEHS head coach CJ Tracy said. “We know we have a lot of things we need to clean up, but we’ll take the victory.”

Horn, a 6-foot-2 freshman, dominated inside on both ends of the court, blocking eight shots. She also grabbed eight rebounds and had two steals, scoring all 14 of her points in the second and third quarters.

Huss got things going early, dropping seven points in the first quarter to help the Gaels to an early 14-6 lead. St. Edmond scored the first six point of the game and would continue to grow its advantage throughout the second.

“Abby put in time working on her shot over the past few weeks and it is paying off,” Tracy said. “She’s got some confidence and made a lot of really good decisions.

“We got some good minutes out of our bench, giving us some options moving forward this season.”

For the Eagles (2-9), they were without starters Taytum Edwards and Adelie Pamperin. Azlyn Amonson led them with eight points, as lone senior Kendra Schild had six with four rebounds. Holly Anderson grabbed a team-leading nine rebounds.

St. Edmond forced 26 turnovers and recorded 16 steals, as Palmer had four steals with Lursen and Maggie Flaherty each recording three. Olivia Andrew added four rebounds and two steals.

Up next for the Gaels will be Manson Northwest Webster on Thursday back here while Eagle Grove hosts Forest City on Tuesday night.
