Tritons post sixth straight win

BOONE — For the third consecutive time, the No. 8 Iowa Central men surpassed 100 points, blasting Community Christian here Saturday at the DMACC Classic, 118-57.

The Tritons (6-0 overall) have started the year perfectly, averaging 97 points per game. They have scored under 90 points just once, as 118 is the most this year for the team.

Tashun Pender led the way with 22 points. Four other Tritons — Jalen Wynter (14), Dorian Pruitt (12), CJ Mitchell (11) and Jean Lucas Beleoken (11) also reached double figures in the balanced attack, while Aleix Sempere (9), Jon Roberts (9), Carter Loney (8) and Jordan Cain (8) weren’t far behind.

The Tritons shot 57 percent from the field and made 19 of their 31 three-point attempts (61 percent). Mitchell dished out six assists, while Pender, Mitchell and Sempere all grabbed six rebounds.

Thirteen Iowa Central players scored.

Last Friday, the Tritons earned a 104-72 victory over Edison State, jumping out to a commanding 53-31 halftime advantage.
