Tritons earn soccer honors
McKenna Hilton has been named the ICCAC Div. II women’s soccer player of the year, the league announced.
Hilton was one of two Iowa Central players named to the all-region first-team, as Sydney Hagen joined her. The Tritons finished this past season 11-6 overall and 7-2 in the ICCAC, good for third place.
“We are happy to see McKenna receive this award,” ICCC head coach Jordan Sibenaller said. “She has led our team in every way over the past two seasons. We are very lucky to have had her at Iowa Central for two years.
“She is a great soccer player, but I’m sure she will be even more successful in whatever she does next.”
Hilton ranked second in the conference in goals, scoring 11, and was second in points scored, with 29. Hagen ranked second in the ICCAC with 10 assists, adding six goals to her season total.
Both Hilton and Hagen were sophomores this past year.
Alexandrea Villaobos Van Slooten, Alyssa Tucker and Karma McMorris were each named to the second team for the region. All three were freshmen this past season for the Tritons.
Gracie Lozenski and Natalie Zimlich made honorable mention.
For the Iowa Central men, Enzo Joly made first team all-region, as Luka Vasiljevic was second. Leonardo Pierangelo Stralla and Lautaro Brunig Leites were named honorable mention.
The Tritons went 11-5-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the league, placing fifth overall.
