Dodger girls win at the lanes

DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge girls bowling team opened the season with a 1,902-1,856 victory over Des Moines Roosevelt here Tuesday night.

Ara Ellis had a 280, as Joely Gilbert finished with a 180. Cierra Roebel had a 179 and Mariah McDonald a 158.

“We have a lot of girls who are still learning the game of bowling, but they are great at being coached and listening,” FDSH head coach Nick Vinson said. “Calli and Sam are leading them at the lanes, but we need them to become leaders in practice, as well.

“I’m excited to see where this group takes us.”

Both the Dodger girls and boys will bowl against Ames next Tuesday.
