Becerra-Diaz tied for lead
BOONE — The Iowa Central women’s golf team remains in third overall at the NJCAA Div. II National Championship.
However, the Tritons now have company for the spot.
Murray State shot a 335 to close the gap and end the third round tied with Iowa Central. Both teams sit at +139 for the event, as Shelton State remains in front at +83 followed by Mesa at +112.
Ivanna Becerra-Diaz, the leader after round two, is now tied with Kamryn Johnston of Mott at the top of the leaderboard. Becerra-Diaz has paced the Tritons throughout the week, shooting a 12-over on Thursday while battling windy conditions.
Johnston shot a 7-over to move up four spots, as both are currently tied at 15-over.
The lowest individual round score of the day was a 4-over that belonged to Paige Danger from North Iowa Area.
Olivia Eckert of Iowa Central is 16th overall, Jenna Kramer is tied for 34th and Brooklyn Backoff is 53rd.
ICCAC programs Des Moines Area, NIACC and Iowa Lakes are tied for fifth, seventh and tied for 11th.
The final round tees off Friday at 8 a.m. at Cedar Pointe Golf Course.
