No. 19 Tritons split with 14th-ranked NIACC
For the second consecutive day, the 19th-ranked Iowa Central softball team left Rogers Park with a split in ICCAC action.
The Tritons fell to No. 14 North Iowa Area in the opener, 9-0, bouncing back to claim the nightcap, 8-3. On Thursday, Iowa Central (21-4 overall, 2-2 in league) split with 10th-ranked Kirkwood, as they also won the second game of the twinbill.
NIACC (18-10, 3-1) earned its 11th consecutive win in the opener thanks to a seven-run third inning. Izzy Sloan, who earned the win, also had three hits and an RBI in the contest.
It was Iowa Central’s turn for a big inning in the second game, as they played seven in the fifth to erase a 3-0 deficit. Natalie Rasmussen had a triple and Breanna Nolte a double.
Nolte finished 3-for-4 with two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base while Rasmussen drove in two. Sydney Wilson had two hits and Jadeyn Stahr struck out three over five innings.
The Tritons play third third consecutive doubleheader at home on Tuesday when they host Marshalltown beginning at 2 p.m. From there, they hit the road for six in a row against Northeast, Ellsworth and DMACC.
