Dodger girls earn 4th victory

LAKE VIEW — The Fort Dodge girls soccer team keeps adding to their win total.

On Tuesday night, the Dodgers (4-7 overall) picked up their fourth victory with a 2-0 triumph at East Sac County (4-8-1).

“Our defense has been playing pretty solid all season long and they did the same (Tuesday),” said FDSH head coach G Myers. “They were so clutch in the second half as the ball stayed with our offense and on the other side of the field the majority of that period of time.

“They were able to be a part of the offense and were passing the ball forward as we were getting in position and finding what we wanted.”

Sophomore Zoey Balm scored the first goal for the Dodgers in the first half. Senior Abby Hernandez tacked on the final tally late in the contest.

“This was probably the best passing we’ve had all year,” Myers said. “If we didn’t have something right away, we kept possession and found the open player.

“The ball movement was on and we were switching side with the crosses.”

Fort Dodge keeper Maleah Landfair had a clean sheet for the Dodgers.

“Maleah was everywhere,” Myers said. “She was outside of the box getting balls and stopping anything they tried to put through.

“She helped keep the ball on offense.”

The Fort Dodge junior varsity squad won 3-1. Chelsea Ramos had two goals and Mya Morales had the other.

The Dodgers are back in action on Thursday at Webster City.

Starting at $4.94/week.
