Gaels can’t slow Bulldogs

HAMPTON — The St. Edmond baseball team dropped a 12-3 decision to Hampton-Dumont/CAL here Monday night.

The Gaels (6-8 overall, 3-7 in North Central Conference) were led by JT Laufersweiler, as the senior went 4-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. He also had a pair of strikeouts in relief on the mound.

Grant Galles and Koleman Hanson each drove in a run, Hayden Derrig scored and stole a base, and both Kinnick Henning and Max Webster had a hit.

Derrig struck out six. Jack McElroy added a pair of strikeouts.

“We hit the ball pretty well which was good to see,” SEHS head coach Mike Szalat said. “But they weren’t timely and we left too many guys on base.

“We didn’t play with much enthuisiasm for a team that had a good offensive night.”

St. Edmond returns to action on Wednesday when they host Humboldt.

Starting at $4.94/week.
