Dodger boys dominate

DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge boys tennis team picked up an 11-0 victory over Des Moines Hoover here Wednesday night.

Micah Flaherty, Akramjon Abdurakhimov and Tate Balkenende each picked up 8-0 wins in the Top-3 singles positions. Aidan Recker, Jaxton Jones and Jaxon Price were also singles winners, with Price not dropping a game.

Recker and Balkenende scored an 8-0 victory at the No. 1 doubles position. Jones and Jayden Stanley did the same. Price and Joshua Beekman, along with Drew Essman and Aidan Russell, both posted 8-0 triumphs, while Authur Lund and Mason Lundberg pulled out a 9-7 win to finish the sweep.

“All the boys played great,” FDSH head coach Scott Messerly said. “We were able to mix things up in doubles and they all did a nice job adjusting and controlling their matches.”

The Dodgers have now won back-to-back duals as they prepare for individual districts Wednesday in Mason City. Joining Fort Dodge and the host Riverhawks will be Ankeny Centennial, Cedar Falls, Dallas Center-Grimes and Waterloo West.
