WEBSTER CITY — Defending North Central Conference champion St. Edmond earned a 9-0 victory over Webster City on the tennis courts here Thursday.

Lauren Gibb, Payton Bradley, Ava Andrew, Cambree Lunn, Ava Underberg and Abby Huss were all winners in singles for the Gaels, who captured both the regular season and tournament league crowns last year.

Gibb and Bradley, Andrew and Lunn, and Underberg and Chloe Palmer swept doubles.

“It was great to get the first meet out of the way,” SEHS head coach Shawn Neverman said. “It was nice to get the win but we learned that there are still things to work on moving forward.”

In junior varsity matches, Huss and Palmer, Emily Mosier and Nicole Mosier, Braelynn Rees and Sophia Dutcher, and Lucy Midtling and Lizzie Tiernan all captured wins.

Next action for the Gaels will be Friday when they host Aplington-Parkersburg at 4:30 p.m.
