MASON CITY — The Fort Dodge girls tennis team pulled out a thrilling 6-5 victory over Mason City here Tuesday night.

The doubles team of Kaitlyn Folsom and Sydney Gebers claimed a win in the final match to seal the dual, earning a 6-2, 3-6 (10-7) win.

Manuela Rodriguez won in straight sets at the No. 1 singles position with Janelle derrig and Lacey Larson adding straight set singles victories.

In doubles, Rodriguez and Grace Behrens, along with Derrig and Madge Hensley, were also victorious for the Dodgers.

“It was a great night and exciting to see the girls claim a win like that,” FDSH head coach Julie Astor said. “They played well and hopefully this will boost their confidence.”

Fort Dodge returns to action on Wednesday against Des Moines Roosevelt and Thursday against Marshalltown.
