Dodgers in action at nets

The Fort Dodge girls tennis team dropped a 9-2 decision to Ames here Tuesday evening.

Manuela Rodriguez earned another win at the No. 1 singles spot, posting a convincing 6-0, 6-1 decision.

In doubles, Rodriguez and Grace Behrens were successful, winning 6-3, 2-6 (11-9).

“Grace really did a nice job in singles, pushing to a 6-4, 6-4 loss, and I think that momentum carried over into doubles for her,” FDSH head coach Julie Astor said. “She did a nice job at the net and played with some confidence.

“I also thought Claire Thompson did a nice job stepping into varsity for the first time. She played No. 6 singles and really pushed her opponent.”

The Dodgers return to the court next week with three meets scheduled at home. They face Des Moines East Monday, Des Moines North on Tuesday and Des Moines Hoover on Wednesday.
