Area girls ready for state spotlight

CORALVILLE — Manson Northwest Webster’s Lucy Kohnen got a taste of the state tournament last season.
Now she’ll enter the 145-pound bracket as the seventh seed.
Kohnen (32-11), a junior, will be joined by teammate Addi Hudek (27-16), a junior at 140 pounds.
Kohnen will face 26th-seed Emily Kesterson (38-9) of Southwest Iowa.
Humboldt had four state qualifiers, but will be represented by three. Sophia Harris was a state qualifier at 110 pounds, but suffered an injury and relinquished her spot.
Teammate Danica Diedrick (32-15) is the 20th seed at 170, and junior Brooklyn Robinson (29-7) is the 14th seed at 235. Robinson was a state qualifier last season for the Wildcats.
Algona will be represented by six girls. Senior Harley Tobin (21-4), a state qualifier a season ago, is the No. 3 seed at 100 pounds. Classmate Gretchen Gorham (33-5) is the seventh seed at 190 pounds.
Freshman Reagan Haynes (34-10) is 10th at 170 pounds for the Bulldogs.
Junior Malyn Davis (40-6) is the 15 seed at 120, while junior Abbe Gorham (29-12) is 22 at 130 in her second straight trip. Freshman Laura Stohr (26-13) is the 26th seed at 110.
South Central Calhoun’s Evelyn Kramer (30-4) is back for her senior year as the eighth seed. Kramer was a state qualifier in 2023, reaching the quarterfinals.
Eagle Grove sophomore Jaymie Anderson (32-4) is 12th at 125 pounds. Anderson won twice last winter at state after losing her first match.
East Sac County senior Jamie Pierce (11-6) is the 26th seed at 155.
Emmetsburg senior Anika Stearns (23-13) is making her second appearance. She is the 15th seed at 105 pounds.
Senior Kylie Iverson (31-5) is the 13th seed at 155 for the E-Hawks.
