Austin Morrow, Eddie Doyle and Ryan Reeder have exchanged men’s open division championships in recent years at the Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota Webster County golf tournament.
A handful of other contenders have been nipping at the heels of the winners, and could be poised for a breakthrough soon in search for that elusive title.
Last summer, Kole Petersen claimed runner-up honors behind Doyle. Petersen was also fifth in 2021 and third in 2019.
The 2022 chase also included brothers Cole and Cody Jaeschke, who tied for fourth. In 2021, Cole was third. In 2020, Cody took fourth, and in 2019, he finished fifth.
The senior side has many of the same familiar faces on the verge of the winner’s circle. Steve Schmidt was second in 2022, fifth in 2021 and third in 2019. Kevin Conrad was third last year and in 2021, while taking runner-up honors in 2020.
This year’s two-day event will be on Saturday and Sunday. All citizens who either live or work in Webster County are invited to participate.
Tee times are being accepted. The men’s open, senior (50 and older) and super senior (65 and older) divisions are asked to sign up by July 5 at Lakeside Golf Course, where the first round will take place. The women’s open, senior and super senior competitors will register at the Fort Dodge Country Club.
Tee times will be set in nine-minute increments on the men’s side, beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday at Lakeside. Women’s tee times start at 8 a.m.
Groups are asked to sign up either by phone or in person at their respective designated courses as soon as possible.
