Tritons McIntyre, Stein both named first team All-Americans

George McIntyre and Sawyer Stein had seasons to remember on the diamond for the Iowa Central baseball team this past spring.
Now, the Triton sophomores are reaping the rewards.
Both McIntyre and Stein were named to the NJCAA Div. II All-American first team, the league announced recently. They are two the only players from the ICCAC to make the nation’s top squad.
Fellow Triton Isaiah Brennan was named an honorable mention All-American.
The NJCAA also announced softball All-Americans, as Natalie Rasmussen made the second team. She had previously been named to the first squad by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

For the second consecutive spring, Iowa Central reached the NJCAA Div. II World Series in baseball, closing the season at 53-12 overall.
McIntyre hit .487 with 32 home runs, 136 runs scored, 102 RBI and 28 steals, adding 22 doubles as well. The Dallas Baptist University recruit had an on-base percentage of .621 and a slugging percentage of 1.009.
Stein blasted 30 homers, driving in 113 runs with 101 runs scored, 25 doubles, three triples and 16 steals. He hit .451, had an on-base percentage of .566 and a slugging percentage of .991.
Brennan went 8-2 on the mound with one complete game, striking out 91 batters over 64-plus innings pitched.
McIntyre was named the ICCAC Div. II Offensive Player of the Year. and Brennan earned the top pitching award in the league.
Iowa Central broke the NJCAA Div. II record for team home runs this past season with 190. Stein set the NJCAA Div. II all-time mark for RBI and McIntyre the same for runs scored.
McIntyre broke program records for batting average, hits, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and walks in a season.
