AMES — The Fort Dodge baseball squad couldn’t get their bats going against Iowa Alliance Conference Northern Division champion Ames here on Thursday.

The Dodgers were blanked twice by the Little Cyclones, losing 1-0 and 5-0.

Sophomore Jase Nekvinda tossed a three-hitter in the opener, allowing just a single run in the third inning for FDSH (18-17 overall). Nekvinda walked a pair and struck out two.

Freshman Jaxson Dencklau had the lone hit for the Dodgers against senior Braydon Beenlener, who struck out 10 for Ames (26-12).

Dencklau and junior Jace Johnson had the only two hits as the nightcap followed a similar pattern. The Little Cyclones only led 2-0 in the sixth before tacking on three insurance runs.

Senior Dalton Rosalez gave up just two runs and four hits in five innings, striking out five for Fort Dodge.

Senior Easton Mittelstaedt tossed a complete game two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts for the Little Cyclones.

The Dodgers are back in action on Monday, hosting Clinton (10 a.m.) and Indianola (12:30 p.m.) to conclude the regular season.
