Jaime Grossoehme, Will Orness and Ben Helmers were among the six players named to the North Central Conference first-team, the league announced.

Grossoehme was one of two unanimous selections, as the Webster City senior was joined by Clear Lake’s Travaughn Luyobya. The Lions won the conference title this past season.

Luyobya’s teammate, Thomas Meyer, along with Hampton-Dumont/CAL’s Scott Harr completed the top team.

Ty McKinney and Briar Klaver of Webster City, Joshua Thurm and Evan Hatcher of Humboldt, and Alex Manske of Algona were on the second-team.

St. Edmond’s lone selection came on the third with junior Sam Mericle. Nevan Foss of Clarion-Goldfield/Dows, Landon Welp from Algona and Elliot Carlson of Humboldt joined him.

Helmers, a sophomore, helped lead the Bulldogs to an appearance in the Class 3A state tournament. He averaged 18 points per game, which ranked second in the NCC.

Orness, a senior, led the conference in made 3-pointers per game and attempted triples, hitting 3.6 a night.

Mericle, a junior, was fourth in the NCC in scoring per game at 17.6 a night. He was also fifth in made field goals per game and free throw attempts per game.

Harr led the conference in scoring for Hampton-Dumont/CAL, who is coached by former Fort Dodge Senior High standout Brian Niesen. He was also first in rebounds per game, field goals made and free throws made.

Webster City and Humboldt finished tied for second with Algona fourth.
