Tritons edged in Top-10 showdown at Hutchinson
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Iowa Central football team was narrowly denied a third consecutive win over a ranked opponent here Saturday afternoon.
No. 2 Hutchinson rallied from a first half deficit, posting a 31-28 overtime victory vs. the seventh-ranked Tritons.
Cole Segraves kicked a 39-yarder after the Blue Dragons stopped Iowa Central (2-1 overall) on fourth-down in the extra session. The Tritons led 21-7 early in the second quarter, finishing with 372 yards of total offense.
Iowa Central (2-1 overall) forced four turnovers in the narrow defeat against the Blue Dragons (3-0) at Gowans Stadium.
Keon’tay Fowler caught a touchdown pass to tie the score at 28 with 3:57 left in regulation. In overtime, Omarion Bartlett was stopped at the Hutchinson 16-yard line on a 4th-and-1 to set up the Dragons’ winning possession.
The Tritons rushed for 169 yards and passed for 203.
Iowa Central returns home this Saturday to face ICCAC rival Ellsworth. Kickoff is set for noon inside Dodger Stadium.
