It took collaboration to put on a show

Home, Garden and Lifestyle Show brings big city features to Fort Dodge

Small utility vehicles, window frames and storage containers to be used in the kitchen were among the dozens of products on display at the recent Home, Garden and Lifestyle Show, held Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And if someone came to the show in need of some information about services available to help homeowners they were in luck because companies that provide everything from renovation work to disaster cleanup were on hand as well.

Attendance at the show resulted in prizes for some lucky people. A Husqvarna riding mower valued at $2,400 was given away. Also given away were five $100 gift cards to Sears Hometown Store and one $500 gift card from Menards.

Presentations on everything from martial arts to the new Fort Dodge Fiber broadband utility were conducted

Food from Clayton’s Ribs and Chicken, of Fort Dodge, was also available. Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota held a pancake breakfast Saturday morning at the show.

To see and get all of that in one place usually requires a trip to a big city. That is not the case, here, however. The Home, Garden and Lifestyle Show brought all of that together for area residents at the East Campus of Iowa Central Community College. And no one had to pay big city prices to get into the show because admission was free thanks to Hy-Vee.

A lot of collaboration went on to make this show possible for local residents.

It was sponsored by The Messenger, The Daily Freeman-Journal in Webster City and Sears Hometown Store. Sears Hometown Store also donated the riding mower that was given away.

Iowa Central Community College allowed the East Campus to be used for the show.

P & R Entry Doors Inc., of Duncombe, sponsored the speaker presentations. Among the speakers was Kelsey Felch, of Faiferlick Taekwondo, Martial Arts, Self-Defense and Fitness LLC and Next Edge Performance.

And then there were the dozens of vendors.

All of those individuals and businesses came together to produce a quality show.

We thank them and look forward to working with them on future shows.

We also thank the hundreds of people who came out to the East Campus for the show.

Starting at $4.94/week.
