Douglas Clark Hill, 81, of Fort Dodge passed away at Friendship Haven on Saturday, June 10, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be at Fulton Lutheran Cemetery, Roelyn, IA. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Doug was born in Duncombe, IA on January 14, 1942, to Otto and Carolyn (Sandvig) Hill. He grew up and attended school in Duncombe and graduated from Webster City High School. He was united in marriage to Patricia Sorenson on August 10, 1968, at the Fulton Lutheran Church in Roelyn. Over the years Doug farmed and worked for O’Connell Booking & Tax and Jon Shuman CPA. He was a longtime member of Fulton Lutheran Church in Roelyn. He and Patty were founding members of Choral Society and performed for over 50 years. He also performed and was a member of Comedia Musica Players. He and Patty enjoyed traveling the world, antiques and were longtime ISU Football & Basketball season ticket holders. He loved the many summers and friendships made at Twin Lakes.
He always liked meeting new people, talking with everyone and would often say “who has more fun than people”.
Doug is survived by his wife Patricia; daughter Sara Hill of Fort Dodge and Michael (Laura) Hill of Arlington, Virginia; grandchildren Helena and Hansel; sister Karen Carr; sisters-in-law Donna Hill and Mary Ellen Hill and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family along with many friends who were considered family. He was preceded in death by his parents Otto and Carolyn Hill, in-laws Oliver & Nellie Sorenson; brothers Jim Hill and Conly Hill; sisters Janice Brothers, Mary Rosheim, Patricia Hill, and Bonita Peterson Olsen; brothers-in-law Gary Carr, Bob Brothers, Irv Rosheim and Don Peterson.
Memorials may be left to The Lord’s Cupboard, Choral Society, Comedia Musica Players and Friendship Haven.
