RICHARD “SHORTY” ALLISON

Richard A. “Shorty” Allison, Sr. 76, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022. Born August 14, 1945, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, he was the son of Vernon A. and Mary Lou (Salvatore) Allison. Shorty was a 1964 graduate from Fort Dodge High School. He then served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Shorty married Karen Brown on August 17, 2007. He retired in 2007 from the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 18, working for Jeffers Crane for 25 years. Shorty enjoyed dirt racing, NASCAR, horses, and watching his grandsons wrestle.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; children, Anthony (Lynn) Allison, Rich (Tracy) Allison, Troy (Michelle) Allison and Heather (Billy) Schetter; brothers, Vern (Linda) Allison, Texas, Jim (Lois) Allison, Fort Dodge, and Don (Ferol) Allison, Oregon; sisters, Tootie Allison, Des Moines, Eva (Michael) Fisher, Donna (Kenny) Johnson, Joyce (Cecil) Phipps, Grimes, and Virginia Holcomb; grandchildren, Riley (Kyle Smith) Allison, McKenzie Allison, Brittany (James) Pickens, Mason Allison, J.T. (Nane) Allison, Trent Allison, Luke Allison and Titus Allison; great grandchildren, Lincoln, Presley and Cali.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, 1st Wife Sharon and 5 sisters and husbands & 2 brother-in-laws, Verna Mae & Joe Dudley, Tx, Deloris & Edwin Schultze of MN, Mardella & Ray Donaldson of Chicago, Caroline & Frank St. Clair of San Diego, Monna & Willard Saboe of Fort Dodge, & 2 brother-in laws Louis Holcomb of MN & Dennis Allison of Des Moines.
