LDS General Conference is this weekend

Satellite broadcast sessions of the 187th Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be held at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m Sunday in the Fort Dodge Ward, 1436 N. 32nd St. Live streaming of the sessions will be available at lds.org, mormonchannel.org and other digital channels. A potluck will be held between sessions on Sunday. Bring a main dish and side or dessert to share, as well as table settings for your family.

New Testament scholar to lead teaching

Craig Blomberg, a world famous New Testament scholar, will lead a weekend of teaching at CrossWay Church in Fort Dodge Oct. 7 and Oct. 8. Blomberg is one of the foremost scholars of the Bible in the world today. He is Distinguished Professor of New Testament at Denver Seminary, where he has served for more than 30 years. He has written and edited 20 books including The Historical Reliability of the Gospels, A Handbook of New Testament Exegesis, and several commentaries. Forgiving the Unforgivable at Lifetree Cafe

The power of forgiveness will be explored at Lifetree Cafe at noon and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26th, at noon and 7pm. First United Methodist Church will hold its fall rummage/bake sale for missions on Thursday through Saturday at the church, 127 N. 10th St. The church basement will be filled with various items, including furniture, linens, toys, kitchen appliances, household goods, clothes, and much more. Holy Trinity spaghetti dinner is Oct. 1

The Holy Trinity spaghetti dinner will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 1 at Corpus Christi Parish Center, 405 Eighth St. N. Cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children 12 and younger.

SALT youth group is Wednesday

The First United Methodist Church youth group SALT for middle-school youths will meet at 3:30 p.m. at the church, 127 N. 10th St. Children will be picked up at the middle school after classes and parents must pick them up by 5 p.m. A snack is served along with a lesson and lots of games and fun for youths.
