Pocahontas men arrested on drug, weapon charges

POCAHONTAS — Two Pocahontas men have been arrested on drug and weapon charges after a January search warrant in the 200 block of Second Avenue Northeast yielded a wide variety of drugs and a weapon.

Pocahontas Police Department arrested Andrew Lee Dayton, 31, and Zachary Alan George, 23, in February on multiple charges.

A search warrant served on 201 Second Ave. NE, Lot 4, led law enforcement to seize drug paraphernalia, several bags of methamphetamine, marijuana, unlabeled prescription pill bottles with pills, and an altered firearm.

Dayton is charged with: possession of a short barreled shotgun, a Class D felony; unlawful possession of a prescription drug, a serious misdemeanor; possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a Class C felony; possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony; and failure to affix a drug stamp, a Class D felony.

Dayton is held on a $25,000 bond in Pocahontas County Jail.

Zachary George

George is charged with: possession of a short-barreled shotgun, a Class D felony; possession of a controlled substance (two counts), Class D felonies; unlawful possession of a prescription drug, a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.

George is held on a $16,000 bond in Pocahontas County Jail.
