MANSON — Twin Lakes Conference rivals Manson Northwest Webster, South Central Calhoun and East Sac County competed for bids to state track and field here Thursday at a Class 2A qualifier.

Chloe Judisch for the Titans and Matt Condon for the Cougars each scored three state spots while Alyssa Richman of Manson Northwest Webster claimed two.

Condon earned bids in the high jump, long jump and 400 hurdles with Richman qualifying for Des Moines and Drake Stadium in both the 1,500 and 3,000.

Last year at state, Richman, a junior, was fourth in the 3,000 and placed sixth in the 1,500. Condon, also a junior, will be returning in his three events after taking 10th in the high jump, 19th in the long jump and 20th in the hurdles.

Joining Judisch for South Central Calhoun will be Iris Melody, Zakiah Pettigrew and Tristin Gorden. Judisch will run in the 400, 800 and 1,500; Melody in the 3,000; Pettigrew the 110 hurdles; and Gorden will compete in the shot put.

Judisch and Melody are both returning state qualifiers, as Judisch, a senior, was ninth in the 800 a year ago while Melody, a sophomore, placed 18th.

East Sac County’s Parker Engel and Isaiah Aragon claimed spots in the 3,200 by finishing first and second overall.

For Greene County, Emma Ewalt and Isaac Carman in the discus, Kaycee Pittman in the 800 and the girls distance medley relay punched their state tickets.

Jaguars, Eagles earn spots

STORY CITY — The Southeast Valley and Eagle Grove track and field teams were in action here Thursday at a Class 2A state-qualifying meet.

Alex Kitchen from Southeast Valley and Addyson Jeske of Eagle Grove qualified for state, which takes place in Des Moines beginning next Thursday.

First and second place finishes from each district earned a bid to state, with the next best eight performances filling out the fields.

Kitchen won the shot put while Jeske was the runner-up in the long jump.
