Police investigate Sunday night assault

Investigators are seeking information on an assault case from Sunday night.

Officers were called to the Biltwell Apartments, 106 N. 10th St., after receiving a report that a man may have been shot, according to Police Chief Tim Carmody.

Sgt. Dan Charlson was directed to the sixth floor, where he found a man, identified as Perne Struchen, 26, of Fort Dodge, who had visible injuries on his arm, but was conscious and responding to officers.

The investigation later revealed that the incident happened in the area of 200 N. 14th St., and that Struchen walked back to the Biltwell Apartments. Carmody said Struchen left a trail of evidence as he walked back.

Officer Chris Weiland, who is investigating the case, is seeking anyone who may have seen the incident or could provide more information, according to Carmody.
